Chehalis Fire Department Training
All firefighters in the department are considered “combat structural firefighters”. Each year the department completes approximately 3000 hours of training.
Our training program consists of all the WAC 296-305 mandatory training requirements for structural firefighters as well as additional specialty training.
Career firefighters complete their training as a shift and our Reserve Firefighters train on Thursday nights.
Each year all of our firefighters receive training in structural firefighting, hazardous materials, confined space rescue, automobile extrication, and EMS.
The Chehalis Fire Department has a Swift Water Rescue Team and the members of that team train on swift water rescue techniques quarterly.
In addition to “in-house” training the Chehalis Fire Department is very active in “outside training”. For the last couple of years we have been fortunate enough to send members to Firehouse World and FDIC in California to train with firefighters from all the country and the world. We are also very active in training around our region and in our county.
The training officers in the Chehalis Fire Department have been actively involved in providing training to neighboring departments and fire districts. Several of our members are active in SWWAFOOLS (South West Washington Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society) which provides quality firefighter training across Washington. You can see their web site at SWWAFOOLS.
The goal of the Chehalis Fire Department is to make all firefighters safer through training!
