This is a regular part-time position in the Wastewater Division of the Public Works Department. Salary $17.16 - $20.86/hour DOQ plus prorated benefits per union contract (eg. employer pays 1/2 of medical, employee pays 1/2). Hours will initially be 12:30pm – 4:30pm Monday through Friday, but times may be modified at a later date. There are currently no plans to make this a full-time position.
This position performs a variety of duties in the operation, maintenance, repair, and care of the city’s poplar tree plantation and other public works infrastructure and facilities. A majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather. Assignments may include operation and use of trucks, specialized vehicles and other construction or farming equipment.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- operation of tractors and attachments to plow, disk, till or mow between or around poplar trees;
- participating in the operation, maintenance, repair and installation of reclaimed water distribution system equipment and facilities serving the poplar tree plantation; including pipelines, valves, hydrants, flow meters, distribution sprinklers, electrical controls and other reclaimed water appurtenances;
- caring for poplar trees; plants, prunes, and weeds around trees.
Minimum qualifications include graduation from high school or GED as well as ability and aptitude to use and operate designated tools and equipment. Applicant must be able to demonstrate experience in operating commercial and/or farm type tractors in excess of 30 horsepower. Must be able to meet physical demands of the job and perform essential job functions. Requires valid Washington State driver’s license with a good driving record.
Lateral Entry Police Officer: This is a continuous opening subject to filling of vacant positions. The pay range for Police Officer is $4,242 to $5,135 per month. More information is available at www.chehalispolice.com.
Entry-Level Police Officer: There is currently no vacany for Entry-level Police Officer, however the City is accepting applications on a continuous basis through www.publicsafetytesting.com. The current pay for Entry-level Police Officer is $3,394 per month. Entry-level hirings are also subject to space availability at the Police Training Academy.
