About the Department
The human resources department performs a variety of administrative, technical and professional work in administering the personnel systems of the city, including job descriptions, compensation reviews, recruitment, labor relations, training, orientation of new employees, and advice regarding discipline and discharge. The department also administers the city’s risk management duties, including loss control; liability, property and medical insurance programs; worker compensation claims; and employee safety.
Mission Statement
The mission of the human resources department is to administer the functions of the city’s human resources programs, providing city staff with centralized, uniform personnel support in a positive work environment based on mutual trust and respect.
The mission of the risk management division is to provide loss control services, and to respond to potential claimants in a timely and responsive manner.
Services Provided
HUMAN RESOURCES This department performs a variety of complex administrative, technical and professional work in administering the personnel systems of the city, including job classifications, compensation reviews, recruitment, labor relations, training, orientation of new employees, and advice regarding discipline and discharge.
Other duties include monitoring applicable state and federal legislation and rules and regulations regarding personnel and risk management practices and ensuring the city’s compliance; and administering the Employee Rules and Regulations to ensure they are applied in a legal and equitable manner. The department also provides assistance to the Employee Incentive Program Awards Board and the Civil Service Commission.
Hours
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except legal holidays
