SUBJECT:               Chamber Way Improvement Project Update No. 2

 

Listed below are the activities/progress that the contractor expects to complete on the Chamber Way Project during the next two week period:

• Complete the storm drainage pond at the NE corner area of State Avenue and Chamber Way (between the NB on ramp and State Ave)
• Bore under Chamber Way (between NB ramps and State Ave) for storm drainage piping
• Install catch basins on Chamber (both sides) and State and direct to new pond
• Start to haul in base course rock for all ramps and widened areas to prep for asphalt pavement
• Contractor will asphalt the ramp widening of I-5 (during the day time) with minimal traffic impacts
• Remove the block retaining wall at the SW corner of Louisiana and Chamber Way (in front of Wendy’s) and prepare for new slope design and retaining wall
• Remove sidewalks on Chamber Way between Louisiana and I-5 SB ramps and install new catch basins and storm drainage pipe
• Remove the City’s welcome sign and the State Ave signs, remove the plantings from the traffic island at State Ave and remove the old street lights along Chamber from State Ave to the bridge

 

The contractor continues to make good progress, due to the good weather conditions and good work practices.   The scheduled work will necessitate various lane closures and the closure of the right turn lane of State Ave (eastbound) onto Chamber Way for the contractor’s and the public’ safety, and allow the contractor to complete his work quicker.  The closures will be intermittent and flaggers will used to help traffic navigate this area as needed.

 When the asphalt work begins on the I-5 ramps, the contractor will not be closing the ramps to vehicles as there will be a minimum of 14-feet of travel lane for the public to use.  A flag person will be site for the safety of the workers and the traveling public.
